Environmental Test Limited for vibration, temperature, humidity, ingress testing etc.

Mechanical

Mechanical tests include vibration, bump, acceleration, shock, drop and topple.

Applied to any mechanical/electrical/electronic assembly or component, swept-sine vibration is used to reveal any points of resonance. Such resonances, if not treated may cause malfunction or mechanical breakage of the product in service.

The design may need to be changed to minimise these resonances or move the resonant point beyond the normal operating range of the equipment.

Once any resonant frequencies are discovered and any design changes incorporated it is common to perform a fixed frequency dwell test for an extended period.

During the testing it may be desirable to exercise and monitor any electronics present or check operation of a mechanical part.

Fixed frequency testing can also be used to simulate vibration encountered during transportation. Drop and topple testing simulate other stresses occurring during transportation.
